i have a iphone 4 mainboard with no backlight.
boots up an makes sounds, and i can see the picture with a lamp.
tried with screen that are working.
Restored.
where is the backligh inverter and how do i replace it?
have many defective mainboards laying around.

Before changing backlight coil you can check LCD connector. Water damages LCD connector sometime. It can be easily resoldered. Other reason is screwdriver damage around LCD connector. Check if any resistor is missing around LCD connector. If any resistor damaged it can be resoldered. And some of them can be fixed by jump.
