regular beeping sound every 4 seconds with the sleep LED blinking

I am also having a similar issue. When starting up, I get a regular beeping sound every 4 seconds or so with the sleep LED blinking. I reset both RAM sticks but had the same problem. Interestingly, when I leave the lower (looking at the backside of the macbook) slot empty, I don't get the beeping sounds but still the computer won't start. Screen stays black and the fan is doing its rounds. Any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks for your help!

You need to check the pattern of the beep(s) could be no RAM (be sure it's "clicked" in - just pressing into the slot wont work you have to bet getting it all the way down to the bottom for good contact).

Or, the RAM (at least one stick) is bad, or wrong (if they aren't exactly the same type).

Perhaps a firmware update failed.

Only you can answer what the pattern sounds like.
