i've ripped, the volume ribbon, the power wont work

Hi, i've ripped, the volume ribbon, does this mean. that the power wont work, just for damiging this ribbon cable?

I have a question, since im noob at this, but mmm , why do i have to solder it? in beteween the wholes? of the ribbon cable? and is this is just to keep the cable secure on the logic board? or do i have to align it on specific places on the logic board so i can work? (btw i ripped the cable, in beetween where the three littlle wholes are at, by the volume section. )
