How do you you fix a broken inner screen
i had woken up and found lines going around the whole screen and it was frozen so i tried all the things you need to do plus amazon cant repair it because of there polocies

Replacing the kindle 4 screen really isn't as difficult as it may seem, Tedious? definitely, but not impossible, I bought a broken screen kindle 4 off ebay and was determined to fix it up, before removing the back cover, I used a blow dryer on high heat and waved it over the back cover for some time, this loosened the glue enough for me to remove it without destroying the battery. When you get to the actual screen, again use the heat gun to loosen the glue behind the screen once again, It still ended up breaking off in chunks but it was large chunks instead teeny little pieces, once its off, I started off with goo gone and a paint scraper to get the big glue chunks off, afterwards, I used a dremel with a very light sanding head (Highest grit you can get) and sanded off the rest of the glue, I didn't reglue the screen, I simply put the new one in and it fit perfectly and works like brand new
Dont listen to the naysayers, it can be done! admittedly during the process I too thought I bit off more than I could chew but I stuck to it and glad I did it, it will take some work and perseverance, but in my opinion, absolutely worth it!

Just to add, I am very dissapointed with the repair videos for the kindle 4 and how incomplete they are, they would get to some glue and throw their hands in the air and say "Well Im stumped" I think it discourages alot of people, sometimes its not just a simple remove this screw that screw and bam your done, sometimes you got to get a bit more creative than that, I am seriously contemplating buying another broken kindle and doing a video guide
Just to say, check you got the right equipment before starting; and by theis i mean a REALLY small screw driver five branch (around 1mm diameter). the screws in there are REALLY small. Good luck !

yes, watch the video, but don't bother buying a screen. It's virtually impossible

i have the same problem, i dropped my phone on the screen and now only half of it works properly, is there nothing you can do to fix it?

I replaced the screen with one bought off ebay, and it works fine. The most difficult operation is removing the back cover. While taking it off, as there is lots of glue holding it to the battery, I cut through the cables for the right hand page turner (kept saying to myself "Why didn't you buy the ifixit spudgers?") so now can only turn pages with the left hand switches. When removing the battery, also very securely glued to the frame, I also punctured the plastic battery cover and had to replace that as well. To remove the old screen it was necessary to break it into small pieces. The new screen is not nearly so well fixed in place. Overall this is not a simple job and to do it properly one needs to be prepared with the right tools and have foreknowledge of how it is put together.

I can confirm its not an easy job as almost everything is glued and I also had to break the old screen. I could not do it properly, so I glued new screen on the pieces of the old one. Anyway, it fits not perfectly as it was before, but works :) good luck. PS I bought new screen on Alibaba, it took ca. 2 weeks with China Post
