I have a late 2006 20" iMac, 2118. I just replaced the Seagate HD with another but I don't see it show as an option as I try to load the OS. It does show up in disk utility. All I did was replace it and then turn it on. I don't know if I am supposed to set it up somehow????

You need to open up Disk Utility, and select your drive.
In the toolbar above you will have an option called "mount"
Once you have mounted the HDD, ensure that it is formatted correctly for a MacOS installation.
That should be all you need to do.

Thanks for the reply. I did find a similai answer online and that was the simple solution. All is up and running well now. My little Girls (8 & 9) have a 20" iMac in the room now and I got my new 27' iMac set up in my den.... however the repair leaves the wife asking we we needed..... you know!!! Enjoy!
