iPad camera wont work after repair?

I replaced my iPad 2's touch screen digitizer, and in the process I tore the ribbon cable to the volume/mute/power button. I went to a local store (eTech Solutions) and they had the ribbon cable in stock for only $20, so i bought it. After I replaced the cable (after watching plenty of youtube videos and reading guides on ifixit.com) and had the iPad back together and now neither the front or back camera work. I have two camera apps and both of them say that the camera isnt usable. Any ideas? Please and thank you.

unplug the cams from the motherboard and reseat them. I have had this happen. It is also possible that one of the cams has an internal short, and is keeping the other one from turning on.

Yup, me too. Most things seem to work so far, but the screen side caméra seems dead thé camera apps, (I have 2) won't switch to the screen side camera. I did have a problem pushing the camera cable connecter tab back down flush.

I have been replacing screens on iPad 2s and have come across 2 iPads with rear cameras not working.

In each unit the camera app brought the"iris" image on the screen. In one, the iris briefly opens but doesn't show a view and then closes again quickly. In both iPads I have replaced the rear cameras but nothing has changed. I tried reseating the cameras several times, with and without screwing down the covers.

I have tried software upgrades and complete resets.

Can anyone suggest what this means.....logic board replacement or just put up with not having the rear camera. After all, the front cameras still work for FaceTime at least.

Make sure you hear a click when you snap the camera back on. Align the camera right then push the right side flat till you hear it click. Reboot iPad then try camera.

Thanks riverarf .....I have just upgraded iOS to 8.1.3 and "BINGO" the camera is now working like it never failed !

It may be co-incidence but it's worth the try.
