Is keyboard and touchpad controller embedded onto logic board?

I saw some guides on youtube with old macbooks and macbook pros keyboard+touchpad turned into perfectly working external usb devices.

I was thinking to do the same as a side project of a more intensive DIY modbook project, but I need some confirmation:

is the keyboard and trackpad controller of this macbook pro a part of the top case or is it included in the logic board?

I ask this question because I red the replacement guide and saw that there are 2 separate connectors for keyboard and touchpad, when in older macbooks there were only one connector, an internal usb connector (that could came in handy also for my principal project).

Thanks in advance for the help!

I searched a little and discovered (from apple technician guide) that keyboard and trackpad are connected to the cypress PSOC 24794 that provides an USB interface. Looking at photos on iFixit guides I can see that PSOC is soldered to the logic board.

So I'll have to build a usb controller (maybe using the same PSOC model) to make it work.

Better to sell the top case and get a usb or wireless keyboard!

How did this workout? I am trying to put a raspberry pi into an old MacBook case and wanted to use the original keyboard.
