No sound coming from internal or external speakers?

Received this laptop in less than mint condition, but other than the internal speakers not emitting any sound, everything was working fine. Not sure if it possibly suffered a bump/fall between now and then, but it used to produce sound through any external speaker and now it doesn't.

Recently reformatted it again, but don't think it has anything to do with the problem since it wasn't working before or after the format.

When checking the sound through the control panel, it does show that there is sound playing, it just cannot be heard. I'm thinking likely a wire needs to be re-soldered possibly?

Any suggestions?
