By the sounds of it your phone thinks it has headphones inserted. cleaning out the port with a q-tip or cottonwool wrapped on a toothpick to remove any dirt or debris from the contacts, using canned air to blow out dirt, are the usual cures for this problem on phones and ipods. Sometimes if you've done all of that and still no joy you can put the headphones in and out lots of times really fast.
