Hello,[br]
I have a custom built PC. It has an issue with the second monitor. [br]
Most of the time it works fine. But occasionally when I come back to use the computer after it has been asleep, the second monitor, which is extended, seems to be frozen. I can see the mouse, and the cursor changes when I hover over clickable things. I can even click on links and they will open on my main screen. But none of the programs on that screen update or move or appear to function. Only the cursor works. It is as if I am looking at a screenshot of the screen. If I click on the show desktop button, it does work and will show the desktop (still no function though)[br]
[br]
When the display is set to duplicate, it works fine. When I turn it back to extend, it is black with a cursor. [br]
[br]
The only way I have found to fix the problem is to restart the computer. But I would like to know why this is happening.[br]
Is it an issue with Windows or some other software/program? Or is there a hardware issue with my build? [br]
[br]
Computer Build: [br]
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X[br]
Gigabyte X470 Motherboard[br]
MSI Radeon RX 580[br]
16GB DDR4 Ram[br]
Using 2 SSD’s[br]
[br]
[br]
Monitor that is having the issue is quite old. Came with a windows xp computer probably 10 or so years ago. I’m using a dvi-hdmi converter. Main monitor hasn’t had any issues, that one is brand new. But I have a feeling this issue does not have anything to do with the monitor itself, since it works fine when on different display settings. [br]
[br]
I have been having an issue with a memory leak in one of the programs I use frequently. Sometimes, it will use all of the ram and either freeze the computer or make the monitors both go to static. But it does not seem to be having the memory issue when the screen freezing occurs. [br]
[br]
Also, sometimes both of my screens will go black for a second. I feel like that could be due to a power surge of some sort, though. It happens to a lot of things in my house. [br]
[br]
Any help is appreciated!
