When I turn on my MacBook the Apple startup sound plays, but the screen remains off. However, I found if I close the lid to enter sleep mode, then reopen the laptop, I am able to access the desktop.

Does anyone have an idea which part is causing the issue? I am thinking dedicated GPU or maybe the logic board? I am hoping to fix this at home.

I took it back to apple, they find it to dusty which stopped one fan and overheats the gpu, but cant find the actual issue. Even though my machine is out of warranty for a year, but they decided to replace it for me to the latest model same spec with no cost, and also willing to upgrade my ram from 8to 16 with additiobal 240aud.

Now I have the top model 2014 model of retina pro. God I love apple...
