Kirsty, I don't think you deleted your sound device :-) You may have deleted the driver for your device. since you did not give us the information about what OS you have, I suggest you get your audio driver [http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=44|from here.] Download it and install, then re-evaluate.
