ASUS ROG G750JW-RS72-CB Troubleshooting
This troubleshooting page will help you to pinpoint any problems you face with the ASUS ROG G750JW-RS72-CB.
Overheating
Your computer feels abnormally hot or shuts down suddenly.
Check CPU Temperatures
You can check your CPU temperatures using free software like CoreTemp. CPU temperatures should range from 60-85 degrees celsius during heavy usage or gaming. If your temperatures are above 50 degrees celsius while the computer is idle, or above 85 degrees while the computer is under high usage, it is overheating.
Clogged Air Intake
The air intake might be clogged. The solution is to clean out the fans. Here is a detailed video.
Poor Performance
Your computer boots up or runs unusually slowly.
Fragmented Hard Drive
If your ASUS laptop feels sluggish and slow, it may be time to defragment your hard drive. Open the start bar (click on the windows flag on the bottom left of your screen) and search for "optimize" or "defrag.” Open the “Defragment and Optimize Drives” application. Select your hard drive from the list and click the analyze button. After analysis finishes, click the optimize button. That’s it! You’ve defragmented your hard drive.
Computer Turns Off if not Plugged in
When the power cord is unplugged, the laptop immediately shuts down.
Dead Battery
If your computer is not plugged into a power source, it relies on your computer battery for power. If this battery has not had time to charge, your computer will shut down if not plugged in. Plug your laptop in and leave it for 3 hours to allow it to charge.
Faulty Battery
If you have left the computer charging for 3 hours and it still will not stay on while unplugged, your battery might be damaged in some way. You should buy a new one and replace it.
Bad Power Settings
If there is nothing wrong with the battery, then it might be a poorly chosen power setting that is making your computer shut down when unplugged. Go to display properties, and select the screen saver tab. Next click the “power schemes” field drop down window. Select “Rixane Power Scheme.” If it is “always on,” then your computer will be able to switch between being plugged in and relying on your battery for power, allowing it to stay on when you unplug it.
Flickering Screen
The monitor has lines that appear and disappear rapidly and repeatedly; video image is distorted.
Old Video Driver
Excessive flickering may be due to an outdated video driver. Look for "Hardware and Sound" in the Control Panel and click "Device Manager." Under "Display Adapters," you'll see the exact brand and model of your video card. You can go to this page and search for this model to download the appropriate drivers.
Incorrect Resolution
The computer may be operating in an incorrect resolution. To fix this, click on the desktop background, then click "Screen Resolution". In this new window click "Advanced Settings". Next click on the "Monitor" tab and make sure that your system isn't set to show at different Hertz for when on battery and when on the charger cord. Processor speed should be about 2.4 GHz and optimal display resolution is 1920x1080. You may want to click the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" as well. Raising the brightness could also help.
Movement Issues
Hardware failure is the likely cause when flicker occurs only when the laptop moves. Most likely, the screen cable is loose or damaged, but the inverter and backlight can also cause this problem. The laptop needs to be opened in order to confirm the problem, but do not attempt this unless you are familiar with PC repair and do not mind voiding the warranty. For the best results, take the laptop to a licensed technician or send it back to the manufacturer.
Issues Detecting or Connecting to Wi-Fi
Computer is unable to connect to a network.
Wireless driver is not updated
Go the driver and update to the latest driver then restart the laptop. This guide will help.
The computers wireless connection, the wireless router, or the internet source is turned off
Make sure the computers wifi is turned on. Also, check to make sure the wireless router is plugged in and the light for the power and internet is on, this will rule out the device being the issue.
