Battery Self Ejects
Battery ejects from battery slot while the camera is in use.
Battery Eject Lever Not In Proper Location
Open the battery/memory card cover, ensure blue battery eject lever is in the proper lock position. This creates good contact over the battery to hold it in place.
Battery Put In the Wrong Direction
The battery can be inserted two different directions. When inserting the battery, it should lock into place without force. If the battery doesn’t lock into place, turn the battery around it's longer edge and insert it back into the battery slot. The battery should now be inserted correctly allowing you to lock it in place.
Camera Freezes
When viewing photographs, the camera freezes requiring a restart of the device.
Software Malfunction
When viewing photos the camera may suddenly freeze due to a software malfunction. Turning the camera off then back on should resolve this issue allowing you to resume normal use of the camera. If this doesn't solve the issue there may be a corrupt file, move onto the next guide to resolve this issue.
Corrupt Photo File
If a photo file is corrupt it may cause the camera to freeze when attempting to view that photo every time. A good way to check for this is to remove all your photos from the SD memory card then format (clear the memory off of) the SD memory card. You can do this by plugging your USB cord into your camera and then a computer and copying the photos off of the camera and memory card directly onto your computer. After the transfer is complete you can then safely delete all of the photographs off of the camera. This should resolve the freezing issue while viewing further photographs on the camera.
SD Card Error
When the SD card is inserted, the screen displays a card reader error on the LCD screen.
SD Inserted In Wrong Direction
If SD card doesn’t save pictures when a photo is taken, an error message with no SD card inserted will pop up on the LCD screen. If SD card is already inserted and this message appears, remove the SD card and flip it around and reinsert the SD card. If this does not resolve the issue you may need to replace your SD card with a new one.
Bad SD Card
When an SD card is inserted correctly and an error message is displayed on the LCD screen the SD card cannot be read. To reassure the SD is working properly, insert the SD card into another device (ex: computer) to make sure the SD card is recognized. If this does not resolve the issue you may need to replace your SD card with a new one.
Photos Blurry When Using Timer Feature
Photos taken using the self-time feature are blurry
Dirty Photo Lens
If the camera's lens is dirty photos may become blurry. To resolve this issue gently wipe the camera lens with a microfiber cloth to remove any dirt or dust that can cause the photos to appear blurry.
Improper Focus Settings Selected
If the camera is having trouble focusing the photos taken may appear blurry. Before taking the photo you can check the auto-focus settings, by clicking the on screen menu button, choosing the focus option, and choose the focus setting that is needed for your situation.
Camera Lens Malfunction
If your camera will not focus using any focus settings there may be a hardware problem which would require replacing the camera lens, please refer to our camera lens replacement guide for further assistance [link].
Camera Shutting Itself Off
The camera shuts itself off suddenly during use
Idle For Too Long
If the camera has been sitting idle for an extended length of time the camera will turn itself off to preserve battery life. If this is the case the camera should be able to be turned back on to resume use. If this does not resolve the issue, the battery may be dead,
Battery Dead
If the battery is no longer able to hold a charge, the camera will automatically shut itself off. To resolve this issue, plug the cameras charging cable into the camera to allow the battery to charge. Once the battery is charged, you may turn on and resume normal use of the camera. If this does not resolve the issue the battery may be overheating.
Overheating
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX30 will automatically shut down if the battery reaches a temperature that is too hot in order to prevent damage to the inner components of the camera. This would require a replacement of the battery. For instructions on battery replacement, please refer to our guide Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX30 Battery Replacement.
Water In Battery Slot
Water is leaking into the battery slot
Battery/Memory Card Door Not Shut
If the Battery/Memory card is not shut all the way, this could lead to water flooding into the camera which could lead to further damage. Apply pressure to the battery/memory card door to ensure it is shut. If water is still finding its way into the camera the door may have a broken seal. To replace the battery/memory card door seal, please refer to our guide Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX30 Battery Cover Seal Replacement
Broken Seal Around Battery/Memory Door
The battery door may be shut, but over time the seal rubs against the side wall causing the door hinge not to be sealed tight allowing water to get into the camera. The recommendation would be to replace the door hinge itself to ensure a new seal for protection.
Crack In Camera Casing
With a crack in the case, liquids can get into the camera causing water damage and lead to failure. If the case is cracked it would need replacing prior to resuming underwater use. Please refer to our replacement guides for step by step instructions on how to remove and replace the case Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX30 Back Casing Replacement.
