If the screen still isn't working make sure the battery was installed properly. This is done by inserting the battery (bottom first) into the back of the device and then pressing the battery in until the battery release latch snaps into place. === Burnt-out bulb === If the screen still fails to display anything, the back-light bulb may have burned out. When installed in the charging cradle, you should here a small click and the device should sit flush on the cradle. The battery should fully charge within six hours. === Faulty charging port === If your device fails to charge even when cable is connected, the charging port may be faulty. Test other charging cables to ensure that the cable itself is not faulty. If charging cradle has failed, a replacement cradle will need to be purchased. === Extreme temperatures === The battery will not charge and may incur damage at temperatures above 104°F (40°C) or under 32°F (0°C). Place the device is a safe climate and try to charge the battery again. === Battery failure === If none of the above solutions fixed your issue, you may have a failed battery. This requires purchasing and installing a replacement battery. You can remove the battery by unlatching it from the back of the device. The program may not be set to read the type of bar code you are trying to scan. You may be out of maximum range for scanning bar codes, check that your device is within proper scanning range.
