About step 10 reversing the thermal cable. If its a Seagate Barracuda to be replaced the thermal-sensor cable needs to be modified to fit. I have replaced with Toshiba drives and they have two pins in the middle of the female connector.
Use a cutter to modify the cable to be able to turn it. Otherwise the fans will run at full speed.
The black tape in step 22 seems to be important to put pack. I did have problem with a touchscreen that did not work from time to time. The black tape was forgotten and when putting it back the Iphone worked fine.

If you have problems when installing Mavericks after the battery has been removed maybe your Mac has the wrong date and time.
In Mavericks installscreen, start the terminal, type "date" and enter...if the wrong date is displayed type:
date {month}{day}{hour}{minute}{year}
Every bracket should be replaced with a two-digit number. For example, March 18th 2013 12:50 would become the following command:
date 0318125013 + enter
The suctioncup solution could be tricky because a cracked display can be Very cracked. Try the good old metal spudger!

Ram it in between the cracked display and the middleframe about 5mm and bend downwards until the display come loose. Much easier.
