I’ve had this problem several times - only 1538s, mostly ones that were “dead” . After charging and restoring - no WIFI - very frustrating. Both iOS 13x and 14x
when replacing, note the section of the underside with a covering on it, make sure it goes back over the zif connectors to prevent damaging them when its removed
I’ve now done at least 6 of these so far and I have fairly consistent good results by taking the 2 Philips head screws out first, then doing the Y screws.
Jamie, that’s correct. With the Galaxy phones the display and frame stay together and you take parts in and out. I’ve read descriptions of removing the digitizer (glass on front) but I wouldn’t try it. This way is pretty easy (once you get the back off)
A few thoughts after opening a number of Mini 4’s.
1) if the display is warm enough you can squeeze the digitizer and LCD back together after a minor incursion with the opening pick and it will reseal.
2) I’ve started going in at the top just to the right of the camera (I use an iFlex to get in then switch to a pick). Then I run down either side with my fingers choked up on the pick so there only a mm or 2 sticking out. Usually after running down one side, I can get the display open enough to get the pick in behind the LCD when I do the other side
I have found it easier to use an iFlex on the camera side to get in enough to get an opening pick in. Then work the pick towards either end slowly and down the ends, making sure it’s warm to the point of being almost to hot to hold. Slow, gentle pressure t open it like a clam ;)

seems unnecessary
Be very gentle and watch for the speaker cables underneath, they are delicate and will tear if you’re not careful.

Do you have all the screws back in with the speakers and wireless charger coil on the phone?
for those who need to open more than one iPad, the iflex is safer and more effective than a razor blade. i use it to get started then switch to a pick
iFlex Opening Tool
