Thank you so much for showing me what the probable issue was.
I was able to use polystyrene foam from a roll I had, wrapped it around the horizontal tab that slides into the plastic housing.
Also put a strip between the screw side tab and the plastic.
One of those (or both) did the trick and it’s as quiet as when I first bought it.
No gloves, or goggles needed.
