Another successful battery replacement thanks to iFixit!! This time, I had my 17 yr old daughter do the repair while I supervised and assisted as asked. The only problem she had during the procedure was the placement of the new adhesive around the edges. Not the end of the world I told her, just don’t get the phone wet. Once the phone was back together, the screen didn’t respond to the finger touch. Powered the phone off and checked the connections and sure enough, the digitizer cable wasn’t fully seated. Once that was done, the phone powered up and all is well. Thanks for your parts and guides. Without them, we’d have had to pay to have this done.
I just completed this install and it went smooth as silk. I did run into one problem with a screw that had a stripped head, but other than that, it went perfectly. Just take your time, follow the instructions and before you know it, you’ll have that sound that you were missing.
Just finished changing the battery on my iPhone 6. The hardest part of the whole process was dealing replacing the adhesive seal for the display. The instructions are well written and. Easy to follow. The pics are really great as they show what direction you should use to unplug the battery, screen, etc. If this is your first time doing this, then I recommend that you read through the procedure, then watch the video. When you are ready TAKE YOUR TIME! The parts you are dealing with are very small and the components are very fragile. That said, this is not a complicated process. You can do it!
Just completed changing the battery on my Father-in-law's iPhone 7. He had purchased the phone used and I suspect the battery had been replaced previously as there was no adhesive seal holding the display to the case. In addition one of the screws holding the bracket was missing. Nonetheless the procedure went very well. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The most difficult part of this project was removing the battery from the case as the adhesive broke almost immediately. Fortunately the tips that are in that step made removing the battery easy. Bottom line, read the instructions ahead of time, watch the video and TAKE YOUR TIME! Good luck!
These instructions are spot on! This battery change was so easy, I had my 15 yr old daughter perform the change. I watched and gave tips, but she followed the instructions and changed the battery without any problems. She was proud of her herself and so was I. Don’t be afraid to try this yourself. Read the instructions first, to familiarize yourself with the overall process. Then, dig in! Believe me, if you can read simple instructions, have the proper tools and take your time, you’ll change the battery in no time.
My wife's iPhone 5 needed a new battery, so I followed the instructions here at iFixit and, voila! Like buttah! Just watch the video, pre-read the instructions and above all, take your time. Considering my first repair consisted of changing out the LCD screen and digitizer assembly of my wife's phone, this was even easier.
Well, I was successful in replacing the cracked screen on my wife's phone using this guide. The hardest part for me was the reinstallation of the front-facing camera and proximity sensor. In fact, when I first reassembled the phone, everything worked except the proximity sensor. I disassembled the phone a 2nd time and reinstalled the camera and sensor assembly. Lo and behold! It worked! So far, so good. Time will tell if I was truly successful. Thanks so much for you guide, Andrew! And to iFixit, thanks for the website and for the tools! I can't wait to try another project.
