As a tech with 5 years experience, I can tell you that if you are not familiar with fixing apple products don't try to do an ipad mini just to save some money. IMO the mini is the most difficult to work on due to its compact assembly. A "first-timer" would be lucky to get the LCD out without damaging it. If you do decide to do this on your own MAKE SURE you have the proper tools and dont use metal tools when unhooking the digitizer and lcd cables. Thanks for yet another great walk through ifixit!
