The CPU chip is mounted to an HIMM PCB. The connections are made with a Cinch CIN::APSE, which appears similar to an LGA socket, except nothing holds the "pins" (bits of steel wool) in place when they are not connected. DO NOT REMOVE the HIMMs unless required, and INSPECT the connector with a microscope during reassembly! The pins are easy to lose or short out!
