    • First flip the mouse over and unscrew the single screw at the bottom.

    • I will not be showing how to remove the light because I do not have the correct tool to do so.

    • A mouse works by having the red light reflect back and then it detects how much light was shown or blocked off to figure out which way the mouse has moved.

    • A mouse will sometimes use potentiometers, or rodary encoders to then covert the motion of the wheel spinning, to digital codes. That info will then transfer up through the mouse, through the USB cable, then into the computer. The USB cable also provides the power for the mouse by transferring energy from the computer.

  2. Logitech M100 Mouse Teardown, Open it up: 步骤 2 中的图像 1,2 Logitech M100 Mouse Teardown, Open it up: 步骤 2 中的图像 2,2
    • Now open apart the two pieces carefully so you don’t end up having everything on the inside explode all over you once it’s opened.

    • Remove the centerpiece with the wheel and tilt it to the right so the spring can slip off.

    • Then remove the left wire by pulling it out of the socket it’s put in.

    • The spring here is what let’s you press down on the wheel without letting it get stuck there. It basically bounces it back up. And the wire on the left is under tension to hit the inner side of the wheel, giving the the scroll wheel some ratcheting.

    • This part is a tiny bit difficult. To remove the USB cable you have to use your fingers to pull up on the tab. It takes awhile because you have to be careful to not accidentally bend the plastic casing it’s in. Luckily once’s its out it’s extremely easy to put in.

okay, but how does it go back together?

The way you put together (I assume you’re interested in the wheel) is as follows, looking at the mouse from the above, buttons at the top.

- The spring that’s spooled up goes to the right side of the wheel, the spring that’s a bit more curvy goes to the left side of the wheel.

- Try to assemble the plastic piece with the wheel - they should look as Step3 / Pic1.

- Put it back into the housing, to give you a guidance how it should look like.

- Take it out and disassemble.

- Add the left spring with its rectangle corner, one end of it to the wheel holder, for the other end there is a small hole on the left part of the plastic piece.

- Add the wheel. Try to roll it, you should hear the usual clicking voice.

- Put the right spring to the right side of the wheel, to the rod.

- Put the assembly back into the housing. Try to click the wheel - the right spring should bounce it back.

Hope this helps.

Thank you thank you! I had opened mine up to do a thorough cleaning and SPROIINNNNGGGG… then I had no clue how to get it all back inside. Your 2nd photo on Step 2 gave me exactly what I needed to be able to reassemble!! So thank you!

If anyone’s wondering, the old-fashioned mouse (with the rubber ball underneath) has the exact same scroll wheel assembly as the kind with the ‘light’, like in your photo.

Could you please tell where can I find the replacement cable for B100 mouse or the white connector ? I have damaged the cable and I need to replace it. I have another cable but do not have the connector.
