The battery on my MacBook was swelling, so I decided to replace it myself rather than bring it in.

There is a lot of discussion in the comments on the guide concerning whether removing the speakers is necessary. If this is your first time replacing a MacBook battery, I would recommend removing the speakers as specified. That gives you far more room to work when it comes to the tricky step of defeating the battery adhesive. You'll be glad for the extra space!
