My company’s marketing department recently upgraded their 15.4” 2015 MacBook Pro’s to new 16”2020 MacBook Pro’s. I was able to purchase one of the 2015 models from my company.
The 2015 MacBook Pros were in very good condition, except for the battery bulge issue, to which apple’s battery link declared “denied” for repair.
As I am comfortable with laptop repairs, I checked ifixit for a solution, and they were able to offer a very reasonable one!

Repair wise, all went very well, almost like clock work! I followed the guide provided by ifixit, and was able to remove all the required components. Once all components were removed, I was able to carefully work toward removal of the old batteries.
Roughy two and a half hours later, I had the old batteries removed, and the new ones installed.

I recommend the following;
Use paper with box’s drawn on it for the screws as you remove them. Mark each box as to the use of the screws, example, speakers, fans. If you are meticulous, note screw locations as well, example; the orientation in a clock wise formation of each screw for the fan on the left.
I also recommend dusting, and cleaning off the motherboard, fans, and heat sync while you have all the components removed, as dust and dirt were built up on the ones I removed..
Going a step further, I cleaned off the old thermal paste, and applied fresh new ArticX thermal paste.
The MacBook Pro is now humming along, and only when the MacBook Pro is really pushed by me, am I hearing the fans.
All in all, this was a great experience, helped greatly by the guide from ifixit.
