The iPad 5 screen was badly shattered and the screen with the kit was cheaper than the Apple or other repair methods.

Well, I bought the kit so I had all the tools, but using the items in the kit seemed to hinder vs help in some areas (see below).

The iOpener is useless on a shattered screen. It just wouldn't get hot enough to even remotely loosen the glass adhesive and it's worse if it's shattered. And even more troublesome, I added the packing tape (per instructions) and it dissipated the heat even more. I ended up using my heat gun on low and that worked out great.
The suction cup is equally useless on a shattered screen and doesn't stick at all on the tape.
To be honest, I probably could have done this with the previous ifixit kit I had from a previous repair and saved the extra money.
Prying off the home button bracket was a bit sketchy, I had to pry way harder than I expected and it went flying across the room and then I had to glue it back on. It worked out, but I didn't expect to have to apply that much pressure to remove it.
I would suggest in the instruction you use a shattered screen and describe in more detail the extra cleanup one has to do. I had considerable work getting all the glass particles removed as well as the previous glue. I honestly couldn't get it all off, even with isopropyl alcohol, but I got it "good enough" to finish the repair.
Where the ribbon cables connect to the screen, it takes a lot of work to get that re-attached so that the screen lies flush when re-attached. I would suggest adding more instructions on how to do that step.
I would also suggest adding some instructions on how to clean the LED, I had some smudges and had to clean it from the shattered glass and just couldn't get it clean, even with glasses cleaner and lint free clothes.
