Easy peasy battery replacement

My battery was totally kaput. I mean, not just that it wouldn't hold a charge, the computer didn't even recognize that there WAS a battery!

Perfectly, I just cracked it open and swapped it out. Couldn't be happier.

If you have any doubts about whether you can or should replace your own battery, at least on a machine like this one, go ahead and do it. It's easy as can be, and it felt so good to be able to use my computer without being plugged in!
