So my repair started as a result of an attempted battery change. The factory screen was very difficult to remove and when it eventually came off the metal guides around the edge were distorted and the screen assembly had started to separate. After replacing the battery, replacing the screen did not go smooth. It never did sit right. After some force I ended up damaging the original factory screen.

I ordered a new screen assembly from iFixit with the tools (you cannot have enough tools). The new screen fit perfect. After moving the home button it installed on my 5s with no problems.

我的建议

Don't ever assume that your phone was put together as well as it could have been out of the factory. Apple especially don't expect you to ever dismantle or repair their devices. I still spent less than $100 for a new battery and screen and now have a great working phone.
