Apple released the iPad 4th Gen on November 2, 2012. With this generation a Lightning port replaces the Dock Connector port of earlier iPads. Internally, the improvements to the 4th Gen iPad include a 1.2 megapixel FaceTime HD front-mounted camera, a faster processor, and support for dual band/dual stream Wi-Fi. LTE and 4G data service is subject to carrier and local availability. This iPad model was offered in 16, 32, or 64 GB capacities with color options of white or black.
There are two versions of the iPad 4th Gen 4G. The GSM and CDMA models were release simultaneously.
Following the announcement of the iPad Air on October 22, 2013, sales of the fourth-generation iPad were discontinued. The fourth-generation iPad was reintroduced on March 18, 2014, following the discontinuation of the iPad 2. In order to make its reintroduction a low-end device to the iPad Air, its price was cut by 20% over its original launch price. On October 16, 2014, the fourth-generation iPad was discontinued in favor of the iPad Air 2 the iPad Air took its place as the entry-level iPad at that time.
