Repair First, Recycle Later

There are a lot of reasons why I’m involved in repair culture: Repair makes me feel empowered, it helps me learn how things work, and it connects me to my stuff. But one of my favorite aspects is getting to talk to fantastic people all over the world. You’d be amazed at how vast and diverse repair culture is. You’d be amazed at how many hackers, tinkerers, re-users, and recyclers there are—people who are interested in making the world a better place. And in my job, I’m lucky enough to connect with all of them.

Cait Emma speaking at the NCRA recycling update conference

On March 18, I was invited to speak at the Northern California Recycling Association’s 2014 Recycling Update conference in Berkeley, CA.

For those of you who couldn’t make it, here is my talk: “Repair First, Recycle Later: How To Fix the World, One Broken Thing at a Time”
