简介
The radio’s antenna can become unscrewed from normal handling, possibly tearing the antenna cable. This guide will explain how to replace the antenna of your Roberts Expression DAB-FM Digital Portable Radio.

-
Inspect the solder joints that join the coaxial cable to the antenna. If the coaxial cable solder joints are loose, frayed, or snapped, re-soldering is required.
-
If the solder joints are damaged, desolder the coaxial cable from the antenna base.
-
Carefully solder the antenna signal element to the small wire in the core of the coaxial cable. Ensure the core wire can not touch any other electrical connections.
-
Gently arrange the coaxial cable so that the outer shielding of the coaxial cable can be soldered to the ground of the antenna. Check that the solder joint is sturdy.

Great stuff - very easy once I knew to prise the grill off! Thanks.
Thank You for that information, Martin. I’ve been scratching my head as to how to dismantle one of these radios, despite having been in the repair trade for over 40 years.
Vielen Dank für diese tolle Anleitung
Many thanks to Martin for this tutorial espacialllly how to dismantle the body of the radio. I had exactly the same problem, so I could patch the fault.
Since the antenna is difficult to turn and therefore the torsional forces act quite strongly on the measly retaining screw, this error probably occurs frequently. With my device the screw, which was too short anyway, did not hold any more, because it was torn out. Therefore I used a much longer screw to give the base of the antenna more stability.
Thank you for the excellent description.
The antenna cable of my radio was ripped off as the shield of the cable was soldered directly to the ground plate closed to the antenna base. So the antenna cable could not follow the small movement of the antenna when rotating it… I added some mm of a flexible wire between ground and shield and hope this will help for the future.
