Pry off the lens frame using a plastic opening tool.

  • Remove the top three T6 screws of the front panel using a 1.5 mm screwdriver.

  • Remove the three screws on the side of the lens using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Remove the front panel by pivoting the right side of the front panel outwards using a pair of tweezers.

    • As shown in the last image, the pivoting point is located above the lens.

Remove the loose washer plate from the T6 screw hole using tweezers.
  • Remove the loose washer plate from the T6 screw hole using tweezers.

  • Slowly peel off the seal from beneath the front plate.

    • See the third image for the locations of the tape strips beneath this seal.

  • Remove the two screws located on the left side of the camera using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Remove the two black speaker screws shown in red circles in the first image using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • After unscrewing the screws from the previous step, lift out the speaker plate when it becomes loose enough.

  • Open the multi-connector cover shown in the yellow square in the fourth image.

    • The multi-connector compartment is used to connect an AV cable to another device. The multi-connector has a waterproof cover and also allows the device to display pictures on a television screen.

  • The side panel that covers the multi-connector and the speaker can be detached by sliding the side panel off of the device.

  • Remove the screw located below the multi-connector cover using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Remove the two screws located at the bottom of the camera using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Remove the screw inside of the battery and card compartment cover using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

    • You will first have to open the compartment cover in order to expose the screw located inside of the battery and card compartment.

  • Remove the two PH00 screws from the interior front cover.

  • Rotate the interior front plate outwards until the front plate is freed from the back panel to detach the front plate.

  • Lift out the shutter, the power buttons, and the retaining plate.

  • Open the AV port door.

  • Unscrew the four corner screws that hold the front and back halves of the casing together using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Release the top holding clip using a plastic spudger or a fingernail.

  • Slowly unfold the front and back halves of the camera to expose the electrical ribbons.

  • Detach the narrow copper ribbon by sliding it off of the computer chip using a thumb or a plastic opening tool and a pair of tweezers.

    • It is easier to detach the copper ribbon by sliding the copper ribbon off of the computer chip rather than accessing the copper ribbon through the back panel.

  • Detach the white ribbon by sliding it off of the back panel using a thumb or plastic opening tool and a pair of tweezers.

    • Unlike the copper ribbon, it is easier to access and detach the white ribbon through the back panel.

  • Pivot the black plastic strip up using a plastic opening tool and a pair of tweezers. This will lock the wide copper ribbon in place.

  • Once the black plastic strip releases the wide copper ribbon, detach the wide copper ribbon using a thumb or a pair of tweezers.

  • The front and back halves of the device can be separated once all three ribbons are disconnected.

  • Open A/V door, remove 3 screws in large metal plate

  • Using tweezers peel back tape

    • Remove PH00 screw (originally hidden beneath tape)

  • Remove PH00 screw from top left corner of camera lens component

  • Using tweezers remove large plate

  • Remove the plastic plate (should now be loose).

  • Pivot plastic strips over the ribbon wires upwards.

  • Using tweezers carefully remove ribbons from their ports.

    • Peel back any tape that may be hiding them.

  • Peel off black tape from lens component.

  • Remove PH00 screw and the metal washer plate beneath it

  • Use plastic spudger or opening tools to carefully pry it out from its left side.

  • Collect the plastic pivot pieces (now loose) that attach to the top of the lens component.
