Unfortunately, the black tape covering the edges of the battery extends below the motherboard on the side with the connector. It may be dangerous to force it out as it could tear the material, and will be difficult to reinstall a replacement as the tape will not be seated underneath the motherboard.

I was wondering the same thing. I just removed only the battery and now my screen don’t work. All I get is a vibration that the battery is working….

We will investigate this guide to see if it needs to be updated.

In the meanwhile, it sounds like your phone is starting up, but the display is not powering on. Double check the display connector and make sure it is properly seated to the phone.

I’ve found this guide to be inaccurate and unclear in some steps. You DO NOT need to remove the logic board to replace the battery in this device. There is also 3 screws that need to be removed on Step 6, not 2. There is also a small sensor that needs to be disconnected on Step 6 after you remove the 3 screws. It is also very easy to separate the LCD from the back-plate/reinforcement, and therefore should be more apparent in this guide. When removing the screen you need to make sure you’re peeling up the entire screen assembly not just the LCD, which is very thin and an easy mistake to make.
