This guide will take you through the process of replacing the input jack of a Epiphone Les Paul Special.

The input jack is the component in which you insert the instrument cable. If your input jack is faulty you may experience the sound cutting in and out as you play or possibly no sound at all.

It should be noted that it may not always be the input jack, but instead the instrument cable. Before trying to replace the jack, try using another cable just to make sure.

  1. Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the four 7 mm screws  holding the input jack cover.
    • Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the four 7 mm screws holding the input jack cover.

  2. With a 12 mm wrench, remove the nut holding the input jack in place.
    • With a 12 mm wrench, remove the nut holding the input jack in place.

  3. Lift off the tone control knob. Lift off the tone control knob.

  4. Using an 11 mm wrench, remove the nut of the tone control.

  5. With a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the three 7 mm screws holding on the back plate.

  6. Pull out the tone control. Pull out the tone control.

  8. The soldering iron is very hot. Avoid contact with skin, as well as the body of the instrument. When not in use, place it on a soldering iron stand.

    • Desolder the wires from the input jack.

    • Solder the wires to the input jack
