This guide is on how to replace the soldering wire on a Taylor Digital Scale Model #7403. There is a loose connection within the scale that allows the scale to turn on but not function as it should. If your scale turns on and works properly but once you use it then it turns off, then it is likely there is a loose connection that needs to be replaced.

Begin by first locating the battery panel and remove the existing batteries.
Set the batteries aside to a secure location for later use.

Unscrew the 3mm Phillips head screws using a Phillips #0 Screwdriver. This is done to remove the backplate and access the internal components.

Take a look at all the internal components and locate the loose connection.
There may be dust and debris that are inside of the scale. If so compressed air may be necessary to remove the debris.

Turn on your soldering iron and take a suitable amount of lead-free solder wire.
The soldering iron is very hot. Handle with caution and do not place the soldering iron anywhere except its designated holder.
Apply the new soldering wire to the loose connection and wait 30 seconds for the solder to set.

Use the same 3mm Phillips head screws from Step 3 and screw them back in using the Phillips #0 Screwdriver. Afterwards place the batteries into their designated slot.

Place your scale on the ground and make sure it turns on. Use the scale and make sure it works properly.
If scale turns on and reads properly then you have successfully replaced the soldering wire.
