When working with laptops it is important to make sure that there is no current running through the laptop and that is completely shut down before being opened up.     • Power off the laptop and wait 20 minutes before beginning disassembly.

    • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove thirteen 8.5 mm screws from the bottom of the laptop.

    • Using the same screwdriver, remove the two 3.2 mm screws and slide the DVD drive out of the laptop.

    • Remove the three 2.3 mm screws underneath the CD drive using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Pry off the back cover of the laptop using an opening tool.

    • Disconnect cable covering the hard drive by prying up on the clamp holding the cable.

    • Disconnect the cable from the motherboard.

    • Using the Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the three 5.6 mm screws from the hard drive.

    • Remove the old hard drive from the laptop.
