    • To remove it, wedge it back and forth until it comes free.

    • You don't need to take out the gold piece under the thermal fuse.

Does anybody know what is the small silver cylinder next to the thermal fuse? It is inline with the neutral AC from the handle switch, looks like it could be a diode or possibly a resistor, though it really resembles nothing I have seen before. My inoperable unit shows no continuity through this device either direction, so I presume it is bad….but I have no idea what to replace it with!

This is the thermostat, not the “thermal fuse’’ !!
