简介

Use this guide to replace a key fob battery for a 2017 Toyota 4Runner.

A key fob is the small handheld remote control device that controls a remote keyless entry system of many new modern day vehicles including the 4Runner from Toyota.

To complete this process you will need a Lithium Cell CR1632 3 Volt Coin Battery and any flat head screwdriver.

Before beginning this process, if your battery isn’t completely dead, make sure you are out of range from possibly turning your vehicle on and if you are in range, move far from range or just make sure you do not turn your vehicle on.

Push the side button on the key fob to release the real key from the fob.

Insert the key into the same shaped slit at the bottom of the key fob.
Twist the key to the right.
Separate the two halves of the key fob.

Remove the circuit board from the inside of the fob.

Remove the battery gently with a nylon spudger.
Make sure you don't damage any of the three tabs that hold the battery in place.

Place a new battery gently back into the circuit board with the positive side of the battery facing up.
Make sure the tabs click into place.

Align the circuit board with the base of the fob case and gently press it back into place.

Align the top and base of the fob and snap it back into place.

Insert the key back into the fob.
