    • Locate the indent on the inner side of the door.

I got the filter out. There is a rod with a spring that connects to the passenger side of the glove compartment door that had to be detached from the door and then put back on for reassembly. Took a bit of tugging to get the door open and the filter drawer out. There has been a very bad smell for weeks. So it was not a surprise that there was a rodent nest on top of the filter. The filter was black and smelled terribly. Still don’t know how the rodent got into the filter chamber from the outside. We’re fairly sure that it got in, when the car sat in the hospital parking lot for a few days a month or so ago, while my wife was suddenly admitted for two lung blood clots. There was no visible carcass, but it could still be in the duct work between outside and the filter, if the terrible odor persists.
