Tip Cleaning Paste Hakko FS100-01$14.99
-

so if anyone is seeing this, heads up DO NOT and i mean it DO NOT buy copper tip as they tend to oxidize wayyyy faster and the oxidization is wayy tougher to remove so take a sufferers advice and plz go for the better coated ones
Very nice and thorough, ofc I'm novice at soldering, but getting better and I think I burnt my tip up by leaving it at 700F too long while looking at schematics... it's sort of resistant to tinning, and the tinning comes off too easily, so I'll pick up some tinning paste and see if that's enough!
I am worried about the the enshitification of ifixit into a corporation, very palpable in this article. Instead of doing a guide using only normal solder, you had to be like every other corporation we hate and write a guide requiring fancy Ifixit specialty products, all while confusing and misleading people into thinking with fancy wording "rosin-core solder". Why don't you just tell people the trust, "use solder"? That's all that's needed for Step 2, good plain standard solder...Disappointing. Ifixit is no longer what it used to be...a website for people, it's just another "buy my complicated-sounding overpriced product you don't need instead of good old cheap solder that just works" business now :(
