Nice write up! I've done this numerous times. A word of advice and EXTREMELY helpful hint: , permanent double-sided tape." Not the commercial or industrial type but just your regular 3M permanent double-sided tape dispenser type, it comes in yellow packaging and usually a 2-pack. Your welcome, lol!

测试一下。 我把Micro-SIM插到iPhone 2G中测试,正常工作!

I'm so excited this worked! I used a credit card instead and taped the back to keep everything in place. Worked right away! Thanks for your brilliance.

Just a heads up, this could vary easily ruin your SIM card. Better off buying a SIM cutter, faster & exact results.
I just did this with the miniSIM card from my iPhone 4 (ATT) to my iPhone 3GS. First time it was not sucessful, so I pulled it out and repositioned the miniSIM card and it worked perfectly! (Note: In regards to the first post, this method does DESTROY the full size SIM card, but if you are taking these steps this card is MOST LIKELY deactivated and thus garbage. In no way *should* this harm the miniSIM card.)
hahahaha...this is the awesomest and most creative post in the concentrated niche ....... how cm this post is not all over the internet than sim adapters ....and thank you by all heart for telling me this simple trick.....now i wont waste time searching and ordering sim adapters
great trick! Thanks, you saved my day!!
I just leave it here http://microsim-solutions.com/

This worked for me very well, thank you! I used a knife to cut out the micro-sim card shape on my standard sim card. Using tape to cover the rear worked as well.
Life saver! I dropped my iPhone 4s in water today. I really wanted to be able to use my number still, but have no other phone that takes a micro sim. I also couldn't even use my spare iPhone (3gs) because apparently my old sim card is too old for iPhones. So I was stuck using an old phone and an old number for the day.
On my first attempt at this the sim card kind of broke when I tried to cut into it. Luckily I had another dead sim that I could use, and it worked fine the second time. Now I can have my number and at least be able to use an iPhone.
Thank you!
Worked really well! My iPhone 4 died yesterday and I want to be able to call / be called until I get a new one. Used this manual to convert my micro SIM to a normal SIM for use in a (very old school) sony ericsson. For the people who say that you can ruin your SIM card: that shouldn't be a problem if you use a SIM card that is no longer useable anyway.
MY carrier were giving out the regular sim cards where the micro sim could be removed from it as a pull out!
I saved the cutout & it works perfectly as a SIM adaptor! I might well go back & collect a couple more just in case!
In addition, I taped a piece of scotch tape on the non-connector side so that the micro SIM will sit still in the adaptor & still no problems fitting it back into my iphone 3GS.
the un-used regular sized sim card i used had the outline of a micro-sim to it; so i merely cut carefully along the outline, pop out the old sim, then replace the hole with the new sim. paste a sticky tape to the non connector side to keep things in place. trim (carefully) the sides to remove excess sticky tapes.
this trimming is important because its usually a tight fit on the regular size sim slot.
all good.

This worked surprisingly well. I just replaced my malfunctioning HTC One M7 with and old school Iphone 3GS. It is working really well after modifying the SIM card to cradle the microSIM. I found a sharp pair of scissors worked better than an exacto knife.

If you're not wanting to destroy the old sim card then use an old bank card or similar, measure the large sim against the bank card, place the small sim in the correct position on the bank card 'sim', cut the lines and bingo.
I used a credit card and it worked! Thanks.
The cuts look like a god-awful mess guaranteed to lead to disaster! Why not spend less than $5 to buy proper gear instead of risking ruining a phone that costs far, far more? Another option is to use a cheap card reader to insert your diy card adapter into and download to pc then upload info to new correct size sim card to go into phone—never put any crap into any expensive equipment!
