Background and Identification
The Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro is a telephoto lens released by Sigma with a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification of 300mm. It is compatible with Sony and Minolta cameras. It is all black and labeled with white lettering around the lens. There is a red ring around the end of the lens and a gold Sigma logo in the middle. There are grooves toward the bottom of the lens for adjusting the zoom, as well as a switch for adjusting zoom settings. The lens cap is removable. There are also bottom screws accessible by removing the contact plate that allow you to open up your device for repair.
The lens glass is called “Special Low Dispersion” (SLD) glass. It is multi-layered and designed to correct light flare and reduce the ghost effect commonly seen in digital photos. The lens is also designed to get accurate color balance and reduce chromatic aberration.
