== Identification and Background ==

Made by Canon, The Powershot S500 ELPH is clearly identified by the front of the camera casing to the left of the lens (see picture). This device's defining features are it's brushed aluminum case and 1.5 inch LCD display on the back case.

The PowerShot S500 ELPH features a 5 Megapixel lense, and a 3x optical zoom. This is the last camera produced by canon to use the CF memory card system. The following model, the PowerShot SD 100 Digital ELPH introduced the SD Card as the memory storage system.
