Why does my MacBook turn on but screen stays black
my mac book boots up but the screen stays black the previous owner says there's a problem with the software . The battery also seems to be dead but maybe it is just the macbook .

Hope you have your important files backed up. If not and you can access another Mac target boot your current mac and back them up. Then try this. Otherwise you'll have to boot to your install disk and do a reformat and reinstall of OS.
