after installing a new hard drive iBook do not show HD
I did install a Western Digital scorpion blue 250 gb SATA hard drive, and after instal my iBook did not recognize it. Do should I do? Is this HD right for my iBook?
thanks
How can you install a SATA drive in a iBook G4 who only works with IDE drives ?

Right on--the unit has large drive IDE support. +1 Ralph
This computer might not have "Large Drive Support" meaning that it will not support a drive bigger then 128GB, I'll have to check this though. Try formating it in disk utility to multiple partitions under 128GB.

an iBook G4 not supporting more than 128GB? well, maybe...
Yes, these have "Large Drive Support" but how does one put a SATA drive in an iBook that uses IDE?
iBooks were designed only to accept either PATA or ATA hard drives not SATA drives. the biggest you can get for a iBook g4 is 320g, not sure about g3 tho. I am about to do this next week after successfully installing a new superdrive in my g4 today, yay!!1

The same thing happened with my iMac G3, after spending hours of work on it I found the problem was the RAM (strange, isn't it?), also I had to reset the PMU.

This computer uses a 9.5mm IDE laptop drive. They're out there, but can be hard to find.
The iBook G4 uses 48-bit LBA. This has no problems with drives up to 2TB. They never made 2TB IDE laptop drives, since they capped at 500GB due to interface restrictions. You will not hit the 2TB limit.
Here's the guide on installing a drive.
