Hi @sethismail
What applications are you running?
Possible Causes
- Overheating (most common)
- Dust buildup inside the case or laptop vents blocks airflow.
- Thermal paste between CPU/GPU and heatsink has degraded, reducing cooling efficiency.
- Fan is working overtime to compensate, hence the loud noise.
- Background Processes / Memory Leaks
- Some applications or drivers may consume more RAM/CPU over time, causing the system to slow down and eventually freeze.
- After a reboot or long cooldown, performance temporarily returns.
- Hardware Issues
- Failing cooling fan or clogged heatsink.
- Hard drive/SSD problems (especially if the system hangs and takes hours to recover).
- Power supply instability.
- Software/Driver Problems
- Outdated GPU/CPU drivers can cause overheating or improper resource management.
- Malware or unnecessary background apps can keep the CPU running at high load.
What You Can Try
- Check Temperatures
- Use tools like HWMonitor, Core Temp, or MSI Afterburner to monitor CPU/GPU te
