Won’t turn on after battery replacement and calibration process

I replaced my battery and it worked perfectly! Then started the calibration process. I used my laptop until the battery died, left it dead for 5 hours, then plugged it in overnight

Now it won’t turn on

When I lift the lid and press the power button, I get a screen with an image of a plug and an empty battery

I only have a third party charger, but it’s the same one I’ve been using for over a year now and the light shows green

This is my primary work computer, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Green light usually suggests it is fully charged, so, can you open the laptop again and check the battery is connected fully. Also try a SMC & PRAM reset. If there is still no response, then disconnect the battery and then connect the charger, it should automatically boot, if that fails then it looks like there will be a deeper issue on the board with the battery lines.

Thanks for the help!

I tried the SMC and PRAM resets earlier and nothing happened. I was about to open the backup again, but I decided to try charging it with a different power block first and that seems to have solved it!

When I used the second power block with the same cable as the first block, the light turned amber again, then back to green after a while. When I lifted the lid, everything started up as normal!

I’m cautiously optimistic that everything is okay now, but I’ll keep these suggestions in mind if it happens again

@sarujin - Check the MagSafe socket and the cable end for lit and dirt. I often find a damp cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol will clean things up. Also a cable that has damage can affect the charging. If the insulation is cracked or missing or wires inside are knotted up from winding the wire ends can pull out of the connector.
