The Wii U is a video game console paired with a handheld device made by Nintendo that allows users to play games on the GamePad. Repairing the console is straightforward as the device is very modular.

Can't connect my gamepad to the console

So recently i bought a used wii u in unknown condition and when i try to pair gamepad with console, tablet shows a screen where i need to enter symbols in right order. Unlike tye gamepad, console shows an error screen with this text: "An error has occurred.

Please turn off the Wii U console and try again.

If the problem persists, please visit support.nintendo.com.".

After reading posts with same problem i realized that i need to replace one of the wireless chips: 2878D-MICA2 or 2878D-MICB2. So which one i need to buy?

Hi!

Okay there are 3 replaceable chips inside the Wii U.

1: DMW-W051 which is used for the 2.4GHz wifi.

2: DMW-W052 This one is used for the Gamepad (this is the one you need to replace).

3: WML-C68 this one is the bluetooth module and is used for the Wii remotes, Pro controller etc etc.

The Gamepad does not connect through Bluetooth but is using a sorta 5GHz network to communicate.

The DWM-W052 is connected with the red and grey antenna.

You can find the part here: Wireless Bluetooth WIFI Nintendo For WII U Main Console DWM-W052 US Seller

To add: I think the 2878D-WINA2 is for the 2.4GHz wifi. You don't want to replace this one. The small one in the front without any antenna connected, is the bluetooth chip, this one also does not need to be replaced.

So you most likely want to replace the other one.

Please let me know if you have any more questions!
