PS5 slim high pitch noise

I got a second hand PS5 Slim that makes a very audible and annoying noise when running games.

I've read many similar complaints about fan noises or UFO sounds (whatever that is) but I don't think it is the fan. I already removed and cleaned it, and if I place my ear against the PS5 without the cover the sound is a lot louder near the bottom. It also seems to be more silent when I put pressure around this area, or when I place it horizontally.

The original owner claims he never heard anything like it and assumes something happened during transit, as the face cover was also loose when it arrived (although I have no way of knowing if this is true).

Anyone have idea what the problem is, and what I could do?

Added a video with the sound before and after booting a game.

So only when playing games? If yes, is it both with disc and downloaded games? Are you able to share a video with us regarding the sound?

The noise can always be faintly heard if you really focus, but becomes quite loud as soon as a game is booted, and remains as long as the game is running.

I unfortunately have no physical games, but with and without the disc drive the sound is the same.

I tried capturing the sound on camera before and after booting a game.

Hi!

Thanks for the video!

It does sound like the fan that is running. What you can do is to clean everything inside, and if that isn't working, then replace the liquid metal (this process is not easy).

If the issue is still present, then replace the fan and see how that works out.

It's definitely not the laser and not sure what else could cause this sound. As it's getting worse when you play a game, it's pointing to the fan...
