I have an A1708 13.3" MacBook Pro. It is completely dead. I would like to take out its 256 GB SSD, put it in enclosure, recover my data and then use it as an external drive. What do I need? Is there an enclosure that will work with this that someone can recommend? Thanks

Sadly this model uses a custom SSD which is not standard or even consistent with Apples other custom SSD's. I'm surprised no one made a case for it so people could at least recover their data. A had a sizable customer who had a bunch of these for their staff. I managed to snag one just so I could recover files when the needed to swap out systems.
While I know that's not what you want to hear it's the only way I know of that works. See if you can find someone with the same model that is at least willing to slide your drive in so you can recover your stuff. Otherwise try to find a used one.
