@d3emt that depends on what lights you have, Halogen or Xenon. Here are the instructions for the Megane II Headlights Bulbs from the workshop manual. The bulbs are replaced using various procedures depending on the vehicle engine:

Block Image

- through the wheel arch liner access flap (1) ,

- through the engine compartment,

- by removing the headlight

While it does depend on which side you are looking to replace, the process is otherwise generally identical. The only difference is one side may require you to unmount the battery for "wiggle-room". I'll do my best to describe the process from memory.

Step 1: Open vehicle hood & ensure proper placement of your hood prop rod for safety.

Step 2: Look to the direct rear (backside) of the affected headlight lens housing, and you should see circular rubber-type covers a few inches in diameter. The configuration of your lenses is side-b-side, so you should have one inner and one outer cover. Should one be missing, if it is the cover of the bulb that isn't working it is possible you have water damage. Place a new bulb in the socket anyways to see if it is indeed the bulb, but if a new bulb doesn't light up you know you have a deeper issue with electrical.

Step 3: Gently twist the socket (ID'd by the thing with the wiring running directly into) counterclockwise 1/4" turn. If it doesn't twist, gently turn it in the opposite direction. Eventually it will break free, and then you'll gently remove the bulb from the lens housing.

Step 4: Once you have the harness & bulb (still connected) removed from the lens in your hand, examine the type of plug and use common-sense to properly disconnect the bulb from the harness.

Step 5: Without touching the glass part of the new bulb, install the new bulb directly into the harness still within your hand.

Step 6: very carefully reinsert the bulb (now attached to wiring harness) into the lens socket, and gently turn 1/4" back into locking position.

Step 7: Replace the circular rubber cover to the rear of the lens housing which covers & protects the bulb and its harness from the elements. Viola! that should be the simple version.

PRO TIP: before reinstalling the new bulb you've just connected to your harness, test its working by placing somewhere stable while you turn the ignition to the ON position, and turn your headlights to the ON position. You should see the bulb shining bright. If not, it may have a deeper issue causing the outage. Good luck!
